Ceramum ceramics design studio is a taste representation of the possibilities of such a material as clay. In my workshop, I create up-to-date decor items using the centuries-old experience of artisans. My name is Nastya Dulenko.
I came to ceramics when I was sitting at home with a small child and suffered from postpartum depression. My husband, seeing all this, came to my aid with advice: Did you like to sculpt as a child? This became the starting point. At the end of 2016, I got my own small stove. In 2017, I was already engaged in small-scale production, which gave birth to serial dishes and a small batch of souvenirs. In 2019, I realized for sure that production is not mine, it takes resources inside and gives nothing in return. Very quietly, quietly, she began to say the word "artist", "creator", "designer" to herself. I wanted more handmade, more realization of my ideas.
Ceramics has always been not only my psychotherapy, but also an opportunity to realize important interests - beauty. I really want to create beauty, bring beauty to the world, do something with my own hands. I have no art education, but all my life I drew something in the margins of notebooks at school, weaved sculptures from wire at the institute, and was engaged in crafting as an adult.
I am an experimenter, I am bored of staying in one style or genre. Therefore, among my works you can find graphics, chamotte molding, slip casting, and even norikomi, large forms, small forms. It is very valuable for me that the object is not only beautiful, but also has a function: you can pour water into a vase and put flowers, put a candle in an art object, put a cup on the table and even lean on it. I want beauty to be in a large number of houses and apartments, to please the owners of the eyes.
And yet the main theme in the work is the priority of form over color. I enjoy how architectural objects structure the space around. I consciously choose monochrome colors to highlight the form. At the same time, my objects do not scream about themselves, rather, on the contrary, they act as “supporting” your interior. There is a design-friendly term.
The handmade item has a strong energy from the industrial design. Coming home, each of us wants to be fed, rested, filled with strength. My objects structure the space due to their architecture, believing that this is comfort, beauty. Items are delicate, supporting the interior, not screaming about themselves, taking your attention.
