Terra – one of the elements, representing earth. In art, primary colors such as blue, yellow, red, and ash were assigned to the four elements, from Empedocles to Leonardo da Vinci. Originally, yellow was associated with the element of fire, and Leonardo used yellow instead of gray for earth.
